Can Have Shingles Without The Blisters? Had Burning Skin Sensation Without Any Blister, Got Relief With Advil

Can you have shingles without the blisters? I have had a burning skin sinsation for over a week going in a path from the middle of my back to the end of my breast but I don t have any blisters. I can only control it with Advil. It is a lot like a bad sunburn but there is nothing visible.

hello,

there is an entity called zoster sine herpete where you have pain like shingles (herpes zoster) but there are no blisters or any visible skin problem.

Most likely, you are suffering from this condition only. At this point, you are suffering from neuralgic (nerve related) pain and you should take gabapentin and tryptomer to relieve pain as well as to prevent post herpetic neuralgia.

Thanks

Dr Jyoti Gupta
