Can Having Celiac Disease Cause High Blood Pressure?
I have celiac disease and have followed a gluten free diet for 30 years. In the past few years I had, and have, high blood pressure - now being treated. And my cholesterol is high, and my doctor wants to begin medication. I have no family history of heart disease. Can this be linked to my celiac disease.
No there is no proven co relation between celiac disease and hypertension. Although some studies have shown that patients who have high blood pressure with celiac disease and hyperhomocysteinemia, treating the later could lower bp upto certain extent. So I would like to suggest you to go with your doctors advise and start the treatment .
I wish you good health
