I am a 44 yr old female with hypothyroidism and high cholesterol. Take daily thyroid med and also have pravastatin for cholesterol. Haven t taken pravastatin in 7 days and am experiencing trembling, weakness and numbness in hands, and a weak feeling in both feet. Blood pressure is 139/79, which is normally 117/67.

Hi!
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.

I don't think that this symptoms you are experiencing have something to do with the fact that you haven't taken the Pravastatin.
Pravastatin is a drug that is used to reduce LDL-cholesterol concentrations and like any other drug it has some side effects, such as gastro-intestinal dirstubances, various muscular side effects including myositis, myalgia, myopathy.
That's why the patients who are taking Statins are advised to report promptly unexplained muscle pain, tenderness,or weakness.
I didn't understand if you haven't taken the medicine because the treatment prescribed by your doctor was finished or you just didn't take it for other causes.
If I were your treating doctor I would first rule out two possibilities:
-The first possibility is that this symptoms are due to side efects of Pravastatin.
In this case you will be better in the following days.
-the other possibility is that your hypothyroidism treatment isn't appropriate(you are getting more than you need). In this case a thyroid report will confirm or exlude this possibility.(high T3,T4 and low TSH will confirm this.)
I didn't understand if you haven't taken the medicine because the treatment prescribed by your doctor was finished or you just didn't take it for other causes.
I suggest you to consult with you doctor for this symptoms you are having and
to do some tests for your Thyorid function, and your cholesterol level.
If your cholesterol levels are normal you don't need to take Pravastatin any more.

Hope this answers your query.
