Can Headaches Be Related To Head Injury In The Same Area?

I was assaulted approximately 5 weeks ago, I was hit on the side of the head around my temple area, there wasn't a lot of bruising but some swelling. I now seem to be suffering from headaches and have a burning/stabbing pain in the area, could they be related?

Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. The headache could be due to head injury or it could be stress headache. I am mentioning treatment and features of both, you can correlate your symptoms and get relief accordingly

Head injury can cause headache for few months. It usually subside on its own, occurs mostly at injury site, mostly burning sensations, not associated with vomiting/nausea, more pain after physical stress.

Treatment includes rest
; avoid exertion
; give time to recover
; you can take painkiller like Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription

: Another cause is Stress (tension) headcahe. It is one of the most common headache. It is usually dull aching, occurs both sides, band like sensations around forehead, increases after physical or mental stress/bright light.

Treatment includes
; avoid mental or physical stress
; daily sleep for 8 hours at least
; avoid late night TV, laptop working
; While working on Laptop/computer, take rest by closing eyes after every 1 hour
; Head or neck massaging
; Still no relief, you can take painkiller like Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription.

If there is no relief, you can consult doctor. Hope it will help you.

Thanks. Take care.
