Can Heart Function Inspite Of Brain Being Dead Due To Clot?
Took my uncle off life support at 4pm his heart rate was in the mid 30 s. Now his heart rate is in the 80 s. We were told he has a large clot in his brain stem and has np brain function. How is he still breathing and his heart beating over 4 hours later?
Dear I can understand your concern . I would like to inform you that there are many parts of brain and each has different function. For example the cortex and complex subcortical network is responsible for keeping us alert ,awake and responsive . While the brain stem is responsible for respiration and keeping heart function intact. So it will depend upon which the area of brain is involved . Your relative may have clot in cortex or subcortical matter but his brain stem might be intact causing normal functioning of brain. hope this will help you . If you have any other concerns please feel free to message me . Thanks for contacting HCM . .
