Can Hepatitis-C Virus Be Contracted Through A Skin Cut Caused While Cutting Chicken?
Hey, I m a butcher and I just received positive test results for hepatitis c, I have only used introveineous drugs a hand full of times and every time the needle was brand new. Is it possible I could have contracted the virus by cutting myself at work via cow, or pig, or chicken fluids?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Human are the only carrier for hepatitis C, animals are not infected neither they transmit it. IV injections are the main cause, other include transfusion, or accidental needle or sharp injuries with infected objects. There are other less common causes, and even yet unknown routes of transmission. So probably it's not your work that has done it.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
