Can High Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen Dosage Be Taken For Severe Pain In The Hips?

I have been prescribed Hydrocodon - Acetaminoph 7.5 - 325, for a severly arthritic hip, which has no cartlidge left, and has bone spurs. I am schedule for a full hip replacement on Dec 19, 2017. This medication is barely touching the pain. I am also taking 800 mg. Motrin. I am very uncomfortable and in a great deal of pain. Can my dosage be safely increased?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, yes you can take.

Along with that use diclofenac gel or ointment with heating pads locally.

If not getting relief, kindly do MRI hip joint after orthopedic consultation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
