Can History Of Neck Surgery Cause Involuntary Shaking Of Right Hand?

My sisters right hand shakes intermittently for about the last six months. It s very noticeable and she doesn t even realize it s happening most of the time. She did have surgery done on the right side of her neck about two years ago that she attributes the shaking to. Her dr. Is sending her for an MRI, thinks it could be Parkinson s. could it be from her neck surgery?

hi and pleased to answer you
After cervical surgery, 0.64 to 6.6% of the patients may have neurological disorders (Rachis, 1996), which may be parkinsonian-type tremors (hand shakes) that have nothing to do with Parkinson's disease.
A cervical disc herniation may also be complicated by a neurological disorder called cervico-brachial neuralgia and may present tremors.
In your context, I mostly believe in a post-operative complication. Moreover, during the Parkinson's disease, the trembling will affect the two upper limbs.
IRM of the surgical site may give valuable information on what s happening.
best wishes
