Can Hormonal Imbalance Due To PCOS Cause False Reading In Pregnancy Test Kit?
I was recently diagnosed with PCOS, it s inherited from my mother s side. I had two miscarriages in 2/2015 and 4/2015. My last normal period was on 8/6/2015. I haven t had one since, but all the pregnancy tests say negative. Is it a possibility that I am in fact pregnant again and the PCOS hormonal imbalance is causing these tests to come back as negative?
PCOS is associated with an increase in hormones such as testosterone, pregnancy tests detect the HCG hormone.
Pregnancy tests can normally accurately detect pregnancy by day 11 to 14 after conception.
It is possible that the PCOS is causing the delay in periods since this is one of the common symptoms of PCOS.
There is treatment that would help reduce the effect of the PCOS and help you to conceive again. Lifestyle changes to reduce any excess weight, clomid - to induce ovulation, may help.
I hope this helps
