Can Hormonal Issues Cause Symptoms Lining Up With Bipolar II?

I have experienced symptoms that line up with Bipolar II but i have never been to a doctor to be diagnosed. I wonder is it possible that there could be a hormonal issue that could be causing this rather than it actually being bipolar? I am a 27 year old female who has been struggling with this for oh a good 8 or 9 years now. However the symptoms mentioned below have intensified in the past two years. Once a month i get racing thoughts usually around and during my cycle. I then experience a short bout of depression type feelings for a few days after my cycle. Slowly I begin to normalize and then it all happens again. In the days before my cycle these racing thoughts make me more creative and almost euphoric. However unlike times past i felt that this time the racing thoughts were very overwhelming. Recently i had a bout of depression and anxiety that has lingered more than i would like. i keep hoping its just a hormonal issue mimicking bipolar and im afraid of going to a doctor for this. Suggestions are appreciated.
