Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was diagnosed with sinus bradycardia 2 weeks ago with pulse dipping to 38. I m undergoing tests including stress echo and holter monitor for 2 weeks. Cardiologist s office called and said it went down to 38 again and had a pause so they re referring me to an electrophysiologist. My PCP changed my thyroid medicine (levothyroxine) from .137 mcg to .100 several mos ago. Labs were done Friday and my TSH is .01, T4 is 10.1 and T3 is 85. Can thyroid be affecting my heart rate?
Hi throid can be afecting hear rate only in hypothyroid persons once the throid functionreturns back to normal, tsh does not effect the heart rate , 38 /min is a very low heart rate , you should get 2 24 hour holter test to see pauses, in heart beating . Holter monitor is a portable device for continuously monitoring various electrical activity of the cardiovascular system for at least 24 hours (often for two weeks at a time). If there is a pause in beating of heart it will be recorded in it thank you
