Hi
I'm 48 and 184cm and 110Kg.
I've had a 3 year history of heart failure, cardiomyopathy and Atrial Fibrillation.
Treatment with various drugs improved my ejection fraction (EF) and confirmed that my AF was the cause of the problem. After 2 Ablations the AF had ceased, my EF was normal and my Electrophysiologist and cardiologist gave me the all clear and stopped my heart meds.
I felt great for about 12 months.
I've recently had a total hip replacement which went well, about 3-4 weeks after recovery I started to feel tired, run down and very short of breath (even at rest) and have had 3 recent bouts of AF.
I have made contact with my electrophysiologist and cardiologist but it will be 4 weeks until my appointment, so I am trying to get a better understanding of my condition
In the mean time I had a check up with my GP and blood tests revealed I have a very overactive thyrpoid and glandular fever.
I understand that there is a possible link between AF and hyperthyroidism so I am wondering (hoping) that this is the cause of my AF rather that a failure of the Ablation.
Is it possible that the AF is being caused by hyperthyroidism and that the effect of the ablation is still ok?
