Can I Reduce The Dose Of 'zenratard-2' For Epileptic Seizures?

Dear Docter,
Sir i am 28 years old (BOY) patient of epilepsy from last eight years ,in this eight years 4 Epileptic Seizers
medicine continued from the last eight years and medicine power changes after each seizers.
last epileptic seizers was occurred in MAY-2007
and the medicine that I am taking currently is
ZENRATARD-2*300mg (600mg INTAS) two times in a day and
LOBAZAM 10mg(Sunfarma) only at night regularly
But form the last seizers May2007 one more medicine added (LOBAZAM 10mg) before that only one medicine zenretard
and I am continue at this dose and regular Dr. Checkup in a year……….
But Sir, I asked My Dr. about to minimize my medicine dose……
But in this four years 07, 08, 09, 10, 11
I had consult my Doctor in year without any seizer only regular checkup but he never minimize my medicine dose……….
I Respect my Doctor by Heart & Soul and always obey his medication
But, Now I wants my life medicine free can I minimize my dose after Four years or what can I do
And sometimes I missed my medicine ,
Please help me what should ,I have to do?????
please say something about my dose.

I read you question and I understand your concern.

If I understand you well you have been seizure free since May 2007 and would like to reduce your medication.
I believe you do have a point there. If you have been seizure free for 5 years it could be tried. Of course other factors must be taken into account like the frequency of seizures in the past and epileptic activity in your EEG. You must understand though that there are no certainties and seizures could return.
If you are willing to take that risk then it could be tried but only one of the drugs and lowering the dose very gradually. I would suggest Lobazam since it is an adjunctive therapy and effect is usually lower with time anyway due to tolerance. The fact you've been using it for a long time means there is the risk of some withdrawal side effects, so gradual withdrawal is particularly important.
