Can I Stop Cymbalta For Nerve Pain As It Causes Insomnia?

I recently began cymbalta, 7 days on it. I feel terrible. It was for nerve pain. I want to stop. I am having insomnia, and am very jittery. They had me decrease my lexapro to only 5 mg. with the 30 mg. of cymbalta. My doctors are not getting back to me. Please. Can I stop and gradually increase back on my lexapro.

Hi,

Regarding your concern, I would explain that you can switch to lexapro again as it seems that you are not tolerating well Cymbalta. I would recommend to gradually switch to Lexapro, with a gradual reduce in the dose of Cymbalta and gradual increase in the dose of Lexapro, in order to avoid possible interactions and serotonin syndrome. You should discuss with your doctor about this.

Hope to have been helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing all the best,
Dr. Aida
