Can I Take Tramadol Instead Of Dilaudid For Pain At Bile Tube Area?
I had a liver transplant on 08/15/13. My body rejected this liver and I am waiting on the list for a new liver. I have severe pain at the site of the bile tube which comes out of my chest and the 3 hernias while admitted.. I presently take 4 to 8 mg of dilauded as needed for pain. The dilauded is very strong , albeit too strong. I stayed with it due to no side effects at all. I would like to consider taking tramadol, but not sure if its strength be as effective as dialauded. the tramadol can process through my liver better than the dilauded. according to my liver team. Thank you. Henry
Hello, Tramadol may work for you, but your doctors will need to make the decision about whether or not you can take it. There are many drug interactions with tramadol and it can not be taken by people that have ever had a seizure. It is not as strong as dilaudid but if the dilaudid is too strong then the tramadol may be strong enough. Regards
