Can I Take Saw Palmetto And Warfarin Till My INR Is Regularly Checked?

I would like to start taking saw palmetto to help me ease my prostate problems but I am already taking warfarin & I understand it may clash. Just wondered, is it simply just not advisable to take saw palmetto whilst on warfarin because it is dangerous, or could I take it as long as I have my INR regularly checked?

Hi,

It may be taken with close monitoring of INR. Although there is no documented evidence of any harmful interactions between the herb saw palmetto and warfarin however if you wish to take the herb then INR should be monitored and it should be kept within the normal range.

If you experience any bruising, bleeding from the nose or in the urine you must stop taking the herb and inform your doctor.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
