Can I Taper Off Effexor And Switch To Cymbalta Because The Former Leads To Decreased Libido In Me?

I have been taking 60mg of Effexor for 2 years and it is very effective in treating my generalized anxiety. However, it has almost completely depleted my libido. I am considering asking my doctor to have me taper off the Effexor and switch to Cymbalta. Your thoughts?

HI
Thanks for using healthcare magic

Very antidepressant has some effect on lipido. If you are facing problem with effexor, then i would suggest you paroxetine rather than cymbalta. Cymbalta has good response on somatic symptoms, but not on anxiety. Paroxetine among antidepressant is best for anxiety disorder. Discuss all with your psychiatrist and choose antidepressant of your choice.

Thanks
