Hi,I am Dr. Carol Rogala (Emergency Medicine). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has been on Crestoor for a year after a heart attack - his first. He s in good health otherwise and eats well. He d like to stop Crestor and instead take CoQ10 and of course the usual baby aspirin. His cholesterol is excellent as are his triglycerides. Can he stop the Crestor cold turkey. An added one, our doctor is not a fan at all of natural....... He is a strong believer in medication.
Dear madam Thanks for your query. 1. No, he can not substitute Co-q10 for crestor. 2. Crestor or rosuvastatin is a statin (lipid lowering agent) which is a class I indication drug for all patients with heart attack. 3. Co-Q 10 is not a statin and is not a substitute for statins. It has different mechanism of action than statins. It is not a Class I indication for any heart attack patient. sincerely Sukhvinder
