Can I Use Dermovate For The Pigmentation On Both Cheeks, Bridge Of Nose And Upper Lips?
Hi, I'm 47 yrs old, I've had pigmentation on both cheeks, bridge of the nose, upper lips and forehead since 5 yrs now, the last medicine I was given by a dermatologist was Pigmanorm and it worked, but when I stopped using it after 2 months because my pigmentation was turning a blackish colour, my pigmentation has come back. At the moment the dermatologist has given me azlic acid. I'm not satisfied with that medicine, can I use dermovate?
I can understand your concern for for the pigmentation on both cheeks, bridge of nose and upper lips.
Dermovate is a steroid cream and contains the active ingredient clobetasol propionate which is high potency steroid. You may develop facial hair growth, thinning of skin and rashes which is "Steroid Abuse" or "Steroid dependence" after using clobetasol propionate. It is quite common phenomenon where after long term, injudicious and unregistered use of steroid creams without medical advice lead to the multiple side effects.
Topical steroid creams are potentially known to cause side effects on long term or injudicious use in form of thinning of skin, hair growth on affected area and prominence of vessels with rashes.
For the betterment you need to meet a dermatologist for lightening agents which are safe such as kojic acid or azelaic acid cream.
Take care.
