Can I Use Psoriasin Near Groin Area?

I have psoriasis on my scalp and the upper portion of my groin. A pharmacist recommended psoriasin over the counter ointment and wash so I ordered it but the warnings say do not use near groin unless recommended by a doctor because of the coal tar. What would be negative effects of doing this? And should I not use it there?
