Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife took a Tramadol HCL 50 mg for a minor hemorrhoid operation. Doctor said pain would last approx. 2 days, but she could take these for pain. In her opinion, they don't have any effect. So after an hour or more, she has decided to take ibuprofen 400 mg and is feeling some relief. Is this ok? Any problems with taking both of these at the same time? Should she rather just take ibuprofen?

Hello, Thanks for your query. Ibuprofen are available without a prescription, but you should ask your doctor about taking them. They may reduce the amount of opioid analgesic you need, possibly reducing side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and drowsiness. If taken alone, there are no restrictions on driving or operating machinery. You should not take these drugs without your doctor's approval if you have kidney problems, a history of stomach ulcers, heart failure or are on "blood thinner" medications such as Coumadin® (warfarin), Lovenox® injections, or Plavix®. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
