Can Immunotherapy Process Help Treat Allergies?

GREETING SIR I DEVELOP THE NASAL PROBLEM 3 YEAR BACK WITH POLYP WHICH GOT OPERATED 2 TWICE. SINCE THAT I EVEN DEVELOP ASPERGILLUS FUNGAL SINUSITIS AND ALLERGIC TO IT AND GOT OPERATED. NOW I AM ALLERGIC TO SOME SUBSTANCES WHICH DISTURB ME BOTH PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY.. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE IMMUNOTHERAPY PROCESS AND ITS GREATNESS TO DEAL WITH THIS ALLERGIC sudhir keshri

I went through your query and would like to make suggestions for you as follows:

1. Regarding immunotherapy process, I would like to inform that there are two types of immunotherapy available - subcutaneous (injections) and sublingual (drops to be kept under tongue).

The schedule is specific to your diagnosis and treating allergist. It involves gradually increasing dose of the substance you are allergic to in order to "train" your immune system, in simple words.

If your response is good, usual duration of immunotherapy is at least 2-3 years.

2. One more thing, aspergillus fungal sinusitis is a different disease rather than allergy. Immunotherapy is not yet used commonly for treating allergic fungal sinusitis.

3. I would suggest you to consult an experienced Allergist-Immunologist who can suggest appropriate allergen specific immunotherapy after thorough evaluation of your symptoms and investigation.
