Now my blood sugar is 212 in fasting and 313 mg/dl in pp. Now I am having fever and I am in glimiperide 2mg BD and Metformin 850mg TDS .Sometime I am having excessive yawning. One month ago blood sugar was in control. Does Any kind of infection elevates the sugar level?
Hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.
Dear sir, infections doesn't cause increase in blood sugar levels but diabetes cause increase of infections. The sugar level you have mentioned are higher than normal. But you have mentioned only one sugar level. That could some times happen based on food taken that day or physical activity.
If that is more in more than two occasions, check HbA1c value which gives sugar value of last 3 months. If that is higher, then you need either increase of dose of present medication or addition of new drug to the present medication discussing with treating doctor.
Hope this guides you. For any other queries you can write to us. we will be happy to help you. Thank you. Dr Phanindra Dulipala Diabetologist.
