Can Inhaling Fumes Cause Shortness Of Breath And COPD?

i served on a diesel electric submarine from 1951 to 1953. when charging vbatteries using a snorkel ehile submerghed the fumes in the boat were very strong. i sleep in the after battery room. i have shortness of breath and many other health probleems. could this have caused copd and what else?

It appears that you have chemical irritation,of the respiratory tract,by fumes. followed by the chest infection.

I advise you to consult a chest physician for diagnosis and treatment.
Avoid taking fruits, juices, ice water, ice cream, and the things allergic to you,till you get relief of the breathlessness.
