Can Inhaling Paint Fumes From Car Cause Brain Damage?
Car Paint Fumes and brain damage Background I live in a unit of flats and my neighbor was painting his car in his garage that was 2 stories directly below my unit, The smell of the paint fumes was so strong that I smelled it and inhaled it when I was coming home from work last week 7 days ago. When I entered my building I closed my windows to prevent any fumes from coming in. At one point I went out on my balcony and I could smell the fumes again. This was not a one off event as he painted his car several times in the last few months but on this instant the smell was particularly strong and overpowering. The paint fumes gave me anxiety and I was worried about any brain damage that could be caused by inhaling the fumes. I have not been feeling myself lately and have been depressed, I feel I have been forgetful and my memory has been foggy this whole week. I have been excessively tired and forgetful and worry a lot. I should note that I suffer OCD and can worry about things all week Should I be worried about any long term damage caused by the paint fumes? Thank you
It's quite possible that the paint fumes can make you feel the symptoms. However, it is unlikely that the paint fumes will be causing permit damage. Still since you are having neurological issues with the fumes, I will recommend moving to another place.
