Can Inner Ear Infection Cause Facial Swelling, Sore Gums And Sinus Pain?

Hi, I am a 19 year old, 5 9 female. I have been suffering from puffiness all over the bottom half of my face, sinus pains in my cheekbones, extremely sore gums on both top and bottom sets, which seems to come on and go randomly for which I take many painkillers and a feeling of pressure around my face, ears, and down the side of my neck which accompanies the swelling/puffiness for over a year now. Ive been to the doctor at least 5 times in the past 3 monthes, I was prescribed anti biotics for a sinus infection (Vibramycin). They did seem to help however not fully and I ve been back to the doctor since and was prescribed another dose of them. I am finnishing the latest prescription in two days and the problems are yet to clear up fully. I am just wondering if maybey there could be a problem in my inner ear on both sides, particularly the left, due to the puffiness persisting from my ear along my jaw and around my mouth and just under my jawline. I would be gratefull for any help. Thank You

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Your symptoms seem to be related to a sinus infection.
Inner ear infection has other symptoms such as vertigo, dizziness, nausea and vomiting.
So,in my opinion your symptoms dont seem to be related to an ear infection.
I suggest to finish the cycle of antibiotics.
I also suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation.
After the cycle of antibiotics I suggest to see an ENT specialist for further evaluation.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
