Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I take Arimidex daily, 1 mg. I had breast cancer in 2012 and 2014. I had lumpectomy both times. I could not take Tomoxfen because of severe hot flashes and choose to take nothing shortly after the 2014 surgery. I am taking Arimidex since my December 2014 surgery. I have many of the side effects, especially with my hands, wrists and all my other joints. Could Arimidex be the cause of these joint problems?
The researchers aren't sure how high doses of vitamin D each week helps ease muscle and joint pain that can be caused by Arimidex.
If you're a postmenopausal woman taking an aromatase inhibitor as part of your treatment for hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer, you might be having muscle and joint pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Monish De, Oncologist
