Can Intake Of Fluoxetine And Amitriptyline Together Be Dangerous?

I have been taking fluoxetine for years. I also take Zolpidem as needed to help with irregular sleep. The Zolpidem does not help me sleep all night, I usually wake at 3 am. Doctor just prescribed Amitriptyline to help me sleep all night. Im am reading that fluoxetine and amitriptyline can be dangerous together. Both doctor and pharmacy never cautioned me about this so I am thinking it may not be a big issue, but just wanted to double check ..Email is YYYY@YYYY .

Hi there. Thanks for your concern
Both Fluoxetine and Trepiline work on a certain receptors in your body which can lead to side effects experienced.
If you are known with a heart condition then it will be advised that you use this with caution. Otherwise keep an eye on potential changes you feel and if they arise medication change is then needed
