Can Intake Of Lactulose And Movicol Cause Teeth Decay?
Hello my son who is 32 months old went to the dentist today they said he has 3 cavity s (holes) I m absolutely shocked he eats healthier than my 5 year old the only thing I can think of is he s been on lactulose since he was a few weeks old and movicol since around 12 month as he had a fisher tear in the back passage he cannot have a poo without these meds can this be the cause of his teeth decay???? Kind regards Kim
So sorry to hear about your problem and will try my level best to resolve it..
As per your complain it seems that your son is around 3 years old and he seems to be suffering from constipation for which you are giving him lactulose and movicol.. As far as tooth decay is concerned movicol and lactulose are not commonly seen to cause tooth decay.. As toddlers have softer teeth with less mineral deposition therefore they tend to get decayed faster.. You should maintain proper Oral hygiene and follow proper brushing technique.. You should also make him always gargle after eating anything.. You should also limit giving him chocolates and other sweet foods.. Also get the decayed teeth filled with a filling material so that it dies not progress deeper..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
