Can Intake Of R-cinex Helps To Prevent Spread Of TB?

One of my relative ,aged 18years who is suffering from TB has stayed with us in our house for five days. His sputum test report is positive with 2+ grading. Can our exposure to the germs of TB due to presence of the patient in our house infect us with this disease? Will it be safe to take R-cinex one cap daily for 15 days to eliminate any chance of infection due to above exposure? This has been suggested by our family physician.

Kindly advise.

Thanks for your question in HCM. Yes you are right that you may have tb since you have contact history. But I would like to say the longer the contact more chances of infection. For example if husband is sputum positive more chances of strong contact in wife and children. And if you are vaccinated in childhood with BCG than you are already immune. And in guidelines prophylaxis should be given for 6 months with isoniazide alone. No need to give both rifampicin and isoniazide for 15 days. This will increase chance of resistance. So for five days contact you should not take and if you still want to take, take only isoniazide for 6 months.
