Can Intake Of Tamoxifen Cause Discoloration On Tongue?
I have been taking tamoxifen for two weeks. I noticed my tongue felt funny. Then I remembered going through chemo. I just looked in the mirror. My tongue is whitish again. The only other medication I take on a regular basis is a decogestant and Ativan.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you are taking Tamoxifen since two weeks which has certain complications like it can cause cough, hair loss, throat infection which in turn can lead to of yellowish to orange color of tongue and it is due to improper cleaning leading to deposits of food particles and debris over tongue which leads to bacterial growth. Need not to worry. You should visit oral physician once and get it examined. You can take alternative course of medication as well after proper prescription. A tongue guard can also be used for the maintaining hygiene. You should gargle with 1:1 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water as it will help in removing debris.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
