Can Intake Of Antibiotics Cause Metallic Or Bad Taste In The Mouth?

I have had a bad taste in my mouth for 2 weeks. I was on an antibiotic for 5 days for a vaginal bacterial infection and it was worse (metallic) then. I have been off of the antibiotics for 6 days and still have a bad taste in the back of my mouth and my tongue is yellowish.

Hi..
Welcome to Healthcare Magic..

I have gone through your query and can very well understand your health concerns..

As per your query metallic taste in mouth can be drug induced and it can be very much due to antibiotics like and it is a common side effect of antibiotics..
Yellowish appearrence of tongue seems to be due to poor maintenance of hygiene leading to accumulation of debris over the tongue..
You need not to worry as the effect of the medicine will wear off slowly and the metallic taste will disappear and your normal taste will return..
You should take more of Fresh fruits and vegetables and drink plenty of water and lemon juice..
Use a flavoured non alcoholic mouthwash..
Chew sugarfree chewing gums..

In case if in about a week there is no improvement consult an Oral Physician..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
