Can Intake Of Aspirin Cause Internal Bleeding And Result In Positive FOBT?

I have tested positive in the F0BT .My colonoscopy is booked for October 2015. I started taking 81 mg. aspirin on nov.29,2014. How would i know if the aspirin has caused internal bleeding? I am scared to discontinue it because i have a calcification in an artery. Please advise.

Hello, I really appreciate your concern. Aspirin is an anti-platelet action so it delays blood clotting. Aspirin can cause gastric bleeding and fecal occult blood test positive. Occult blood comes in feces mostly due to upper gastro-intestinal (GI) bleeding. So I advise you to continue aspirin and have upper GI scopy for finding any source of upper GI bleeding.
