Can Internal Bleeding Occur After A Head Injury?

Hello, i fell and hit the top/back of my head on saturday night on my hardwood floor. i haven't really had any symtoms of of a concussion other than just feeling a little out of it. i don't really have a bump in the spot either. it's a little raised but not like a goose egg. i guess me real question is, when am i out of the woods to know if i had any internal bleeding or anything more harmful. it's been about 36 hours sinse my fall.

Emergency Medicine Specialist Dr. Deepak Verma's  Response
Hi there,
I am Dr. Deepak, I work in Emergency Department, where I see many of my patients with head injury. You have mentioned that you had a fall and injured your head around 36 hrs back. After that you are feeling a little out. Its a good thing you dont have a bump.
The thing is if you are a an healthy young individual aging from 10-65 yrs, and don't have any bleeding problem(if you get a cut then bleeding doesn't stop for long time), then even though you injured your head badly by hitting the hard wood. It look to me as minor head injury. another point which makes me say that is, its already been 36 hrs and you are absolutely all right except for the feeling of being little out of it.
For future you can remember after an headinjury
1. if the person is very sleepy not able to stay awake, even if he has taken alcohol.
2. has vomiting
3. has bleeding from nose, eye, ears and mouth
4. has a feeling of numbness of weakness on side of his both or any of the arms or legs
5. has a seizure episode, if he is not a know patient of epilepsy.
then it will be better to get checked up by the doctors.
For the time being you are fine and you can apply some ice packs on the injured are.
Thank you
Hope you recover form your injury soon
