Can Iron Rod Be Safely Used To Treat Broken Left Ankle?
Hi i have broken my left leg now is a year and one month..The doctor put the iron or what do u call in my left ankle and it still stay in my leg. Am afraid it may cause anything in my leg and my whole body, few months ago i saw a doctor for advice and he say its okay if it stay in your leg for life time. Its not normal for me, and i want to take it out. How its not late yet for me to take it out or i have to put it? k
In many patients, the rod remains inside body for lifelong. But in some, it can be removed. It depends completely upon bone strength after surgery. Therefore, the doctor, who operated, would decide, whether to keep it or to remove it. If he / she said that it will remain lifelong, then do not worry. Just keep it.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
