Hello,

In many patients, the rod remains inside body for lifelong. But in some, it can be removed. It depends completely upon bone strength after surgery. Therefore, the doctor, who operated, would decide, whether to keep it or to remove it. If he / she said that it will remain lifelong, then do not worry. Just keep it.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
