Can Iron Supplements Be Taken Along With Beetroots?
i ve been suffering from severe headache and dizziness. Upon performing a CBC, my Hb was 7.5 . The doc. told me to take iron supplements IV, but they caused me sensitivity reactions. My question is... can i take iron supplements orally along with beetroots? and what is the recommended dose for that? Thank you, Doctors.
You should take now iron supplements and also foods high in iron(beetroots, red meat etc).
Generally, you have to take three to six months iron to replenish the stores.
You should check your iron blood level after three months of therapy.
Also, it's important to diagnose the cause of the anaemia, it might be a gastric ulcer or some other bleeding causes, so I suggest you consult this with your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Suela Gjata, General & Family Physician
