Can Keratosis Lead To Skin Cancer?

Hello my physician recently advised after a consult I have irritated keratosis with mild squamous atypia what does this mean and she advised cryotherapy. I have been addressing this issue to physicians since 6-7 years ago and finally a new physician was able to tell me what this was. I am a little worried she told me within the next 20 years it could turn into skin cancer. Is this true

Hello
Thanks for posting at HCM.
Yes,irritated keratosis with mild squamous atypia is a condition that has a very low risk of turning into skin cancer in the long term.
Studies show very different statistics depending upon the nature of the lesion and many histological features.
But as there is a theoretical risk,it is better to get the cryosurgical treatment so that you can remove that possibility
Hope I have answered your question
Will be happy to help if you need any clarification
