Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Knee Replacement Surgery Be Done For A 90 Year Old?
My 90+ yr old mom needs knee replacement. Her primary care physician has ordered it for her. Can she survive it? She s in overall good health. Has a healthy heart. But, does have an abdominal aeortic aneurysm. She also has severe arthritis & periferal arterial disease & neuropathy in her feet & legs. Can she survive a knee replacement surgery.
As per my surgical experience, if your mom is fit to undergo surgery of knee replacement from anesthesia point of view, the age is not a bar to get a surgery done at any age.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
