i am 37 weeks pregnant with my fourth child i was just at the hospital last night because i was having severe pain in the middle of my stomach and contractions that werent showing up on the monitors and i am dilated to 5 and 50 % effaced does this mean i will go into labor soon ?
Hello, I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Since you are a multigravida, you can progress very fast into active labor. The fact that you are already 5 cm. dilated indicates that you should be monitored. The reasons for the contractions not being recorded on the monitors are most likely due to low height and low frequency. Effective contractions, as you might know, progress as pain along the thighs. Please monitor fetal movements, take rest in bed, watch for leakage of membranes/show, take adequate liquids but limit solid diet and contact your health care provider. Wish you safe motherhood.
