Can lack of exercise cause higher heart rate ? I am 21, eat healthy ( no fast food, lots of fruit an vegetables, usually drink just water ), am stil a student, but i m very lazy and don t move at all, but i m stil very skinny. I don t smoke nor drink exces amounts of alcohol and i don t drink a lot of coffe ( 1 cup a day ). Someties i experience my heart rate to rise, especially in the evening. When i don t sleep enough, my heart rate goes through the roof.
Normally the heart is stimulated to beat from a certain point in the heart. From this point, a 'stimulus' travels to other aspects of the heart along a specific pathway to stimulate the rest of the heart to beat.Abnormal rhythm and rate of the heart beat can occur under different circumstances such as:(1) increase stimulation at the starting point (2) another point of the heart is producing a stimulating impulse (3) the 'stimulus' travels along another pathway or there is blockage along the normal pathway (4) any structural abnormality of the heart
An increase in heart rate can occur with : anemia, high levels of thyroid hormone, caffeine, anxiety, heart disease
Though persons who do not exercise have a higher baseline heart rate than those who exercise, it should not go over 100.
If the episodes of increase heart rate continue, you may want to consider visiting your doctor for an assessment which would include an ECG.
I hope this helps
