Can Liver Fibrosis And Primary Biliary Cirrhosis Be Treated?

Hi, I was diagnosed with pbc. My liver biopsy shows chronic hepatitis stage 2-3 grade 2-3. Otherwise liver looks good. My blood work is normalizing after almost a year taking ursodiol but my alp still little high. Can pbc be controlled 100% or will it always progress? Can this stage fibtosis be revirsable or can it stay in the same stage for ever? Thanks

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Fibrosis is an irreversible condition and it progresses with time.
Management is aimed to slow or stop the progressive fibrotic process.
Primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) is an auto-immune condition and it has a progressive course.
Treatment is aimed to halt the progressive auto-immune process.
A high alkaline phosphatase is expected in PBC.
Management of the disease and frequent monitoring of liver enzymes will help to keep the disease in control.

Thanks and take care
