Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my sister is 35yrs old and is presently breast feeding a 7month old baby. she is a hep b carrier but has just been told she is also hep c reactive. she is advised o take livolin but is worried may afeect the baby since she is still breast feeding. my sister has no asses to the internet so I am asking on her behalf
Levolin contains levosalbutamol that belongs to the group of medications known as bronchodilator medications is used in the treatment of respiratory distress, coughing, wheezing, allergies, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or COPD, relieving of spasms and chest tightness etc. This medication should be taken in doses and duration as prescribed by the prescribing doctor. Levolin can excrete into breast milk in breast milk.
Though the excreting amount is small but the information about its safety during breastfeeding is limited. Your sister's doctor will suggest to take Levolin if considered necessary after estimating the overall importance over demerits. So, your sister must consult her doctor and inform her doctor about breastfeeding before start taking Levolin.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
