Can Loestrin Cause A False Positive Result On Pregnancy Test?
hello, I am lo loestrin and been taking it for about six months my periods are usually very light and short maybe 2 days 3 at the most. This week I havent had a full period just some spotting is that normal? I also took a pregnancy test to make sure I am not pregnant and it was a very light line indicating I am so just wanted to know if taking lo loestrin can cause a false postive preg test?
HI Thank for asking to HCM Non of the medicine can alter the hCG level, but of course testing kit it self gives false positive or negative result but this may not be due to the drug that you are taking ( Losartan) hope this information helps you, good bye.
Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.
First of all, it is very normal, especially on the extremely low dose pills, to experience progressively lighter cycles. This part of the story is actually normal. What is concerning is the lighter, more abnormal cycle and a faintly positive pregnancy test. The pill does NOT lead to a false positive test result. You should contact your doctor about doing a blood test to determine if you are actually pregnant, because if you are, you will need to stop the birth control pills and sort out what is going on.
I hope that this helps and good luck!
