Could My Inability To Get Pregnant Be Due To My Age Being In The Late 30s?
I am 36 years old and trying to start a family. Been having unprotected sex with my partner for 18 months and during this time my usually light and brief menstrual periods have become heavy, longer lasting and painful (not had painful periods for approx 15 years). Could my inability to become pregnant and my heavy periods be linked, or i am now just too old for a first baby. I am 74kgs, 152cms and take meds for UCollitus (maintenance dose).
Age 36 is not exactly an uncommon age to get pregnant, while age could be reason but your menstrual history is pointing towards some other issue. There could be a gynecological problem behind heavy menstrual periods and painful periods.
One cause is a fibroid, which is a benign mass of uterus and can cause difficulty in conceiving and heavy periods. Second cause could be endometriosis, this causes painful periods and difficulty in conceiving. You should get an ultrasound pelvis done to make sure if you have any fibroid, any ovarian cyst. Once you get a clear diagnosis, with treatment your chances of getting pregnant will improve.
