Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am was taking loestrin 24fe for about a year and another doctor a breast specialist, asked if I could stop taking it for a month to see if me taking the birth control was the reason to a recent problem. So I finished the month out and took the last four iron pills and just didn t take it anymore. The breast specialist wanted me to stop taking it for a month. How do I begin taking loestrin again if I am having break through bleeding from my body not taking the pills? How will I know if that actual break through bleeding isn t my period?
Loestrin contains both ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone that is used in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies from unprotected sexual intercourses. Some women may experience some changes in their menstrual cycles after stop taking this medication. They may experience irregular, delayed, more frequent, heavier or painful periods. It may take some days for your menstrual cycles to return back after you stop taking Loestrin. Usually you can get your next menstrual cycle within 2-4 weeks after stop taking Loestrin. Your next bleeding will be your menstrual period, not breakthrough bleeding after stopping this medication. You can start this medication again whenever you want.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
