Can Long Term Usage Of Onfi Tablet Cause Weight Gain And Constipation?

I am 5ft. 4 inches and 140llbs. and I have had epilepsy for 34 years and been on many different medications. I just started taking onfi and I wanted to know if one of the side effects is weight gain and constipation. I actually have taken 12 different medications so I have been through a lot.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, it may cause constipation and weight gain on long term use. I advise you to increase the intake of oral fluids and fiber content (fruits/vegetables), do regular exercise if possible, you may take laxative such as docusate for mild constipation.

If there is no improvement ask your doctor for an alternate effective but a safer medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
