Hello,
You have history of having
breast cancer treated by the prescription medicine, Anastrozole for more than 3 years. Presently, you got a CT done, it shows
bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia. Long term use of any medicine causes adverse effects. You are suggested to talk to your treating doctor, it can be a side effect of the medicine taken for a longer period.
Research studies have shown that
aromatase inhibitor in Anastrozole causes decrease in estrogen level and may induce liver, lung,
shortness of breath, numbness, etc. Get clinically examined to rule out pulmonary nodules and any
fungal infection. Your treating doctor may suggest a biopsy done, get it done so that pathology is detected and treatment started at the earliest. Avoid stress. Stay away from addictions if any. Get it treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
