Can Low Blood Count Cause Seizures?

I recently took a trip to the ER for my fifth seizure in 2 years. Because of there infrequencies, I have not gone to a neurologist Yet. The last trip though the Doctor contacted me afterwards and left a message saying I have a low platelet count, My question is could the low count be causing the seizures? I am an above average drinker, but was not in withdrawl during any of the incurrences.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I must disagree with your assessment that 5 seizures in 2 years somehow represents a lower frequency of episodes than would be considered a good use of either your time or the doctor's time in seeing you. Also, if you are an "above average drinker" then, SEIZURE ACTIVITY may actually be a SYMPTOM of WITHDRAWAL and should be considered.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
