Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son s father was taken to the ER on July 3rd he was told his blood sugar dropped dangerously low. Before you knew it they were inserting a breathing tube and he is now on life support. He has some eye movement, my question is there a chance he can recover from this? I forgot to mention through all this his heart stop beating, but they were able to get his heat pumping again.
It would depend on the length of time that his brain was without oxygen. If it was only a very short period of time then recovery is possible
In general if the brain is without oxygen for more than 5 to 10 minutes, it can cause severe and irreversible brain damage. If he was without oxygen for this period of time then full recovery is unlikely.
I am sorry for any distress you and your family may be experiencing
