Can Medication For Acid Reflux Cause Changed Voice, Dry Mouth And Irritated Throat?

I take medication for acid reflux, but I have noticed a change in my voice and a feeling of something in my throat. I wake up with a very dry mouth and a feeling of something in my throat. A friend of a friend was just diagnosed with throat cancer so I'm a bit worried. What should I do?

BRIEF ANSWER - Laryngopharyngeal Reflux

Detailed answer - As per your query symptoms of acid reflux along with changed voice note, dry mouth and irritated throat could be because of laryngeophatyngeal reflux. This is actually silent relux. Its not at all throat cancer or anything like that. Need not to panic about that.

I would suggest you to visit ENT speacialist and go for few diagnostic tests such as barium swallow, PH monitoring, endoscopy or proton pump inhibitor test. Treatment mainly includes proton pump inhibitors such as Nexium Protonix Prevacid , Aciphex. Avoid taking alcohol, smoke,caffeine. Avoid food rich in fatty, spicy, sharp substances.
